Persian Medicine: Mystic Teachings of Rumi
Exploring war and peace within the human experience. An embodied journey through story, poetry, and ancient wisdom.

This talk invites you into the rich world of Persian Medicine and Sufi mysticism through the timeless teachings of Rumi, framed by the theme “War and Peace in this life form.” Rather than focusing on conflict as something external, this offering explores the inner wars we carry and the pathways toward inner peace, integration, and wholeness.
Tania Astans, known as Tania Temple Cat, is a multicultural and multilingual holistic wellness practitioner based in the Northern Rivers, NSW. Born in Iran and raised within an Armenian community in Tehran, her life journey has woven together mysticism, healing arts, and deep spiritual inquiry across cultures and traditions.
Drawing from lived experience in Buddhism, Shamanism, Sufism, Ayurveda, holistic psychotherapy, plant medicine, and Dervish Whirling, Tania brings a rare depth to Rumi’s teachings. Schooled in Farsi—the original language of Rumi’s poetry—and guided by her Iranian teacher Afsaneh Tarfiee, she offers access to the subtle layers of meaning often lost in English translations.
Through storytelling—an ancient and powerful vehicle for transformation—Tania shares Rumi’s poetic wisdom as a form of Persian medicine for the modern soul. These stories illuminate the human condition with compassion and insight, offering guidance for resolving inner conflict and cultivating peace within ourselves, and by extension, the world around us.
